The Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) has a rich legacy rooted in the struggle for civil rights and the protection of voting rights for all Americans. As the driving force behind the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the SCLC has always placed the right to vote at the very heart of its mission. In keeping with this tradition, we are proud to introduce the SCLC V.O.T.E.S. program—Voting Organizing Training Empowerment Sessions—a nationwide initiative designed to educate, mobilize, and empower voters as we approach the critical Presidential election in November 2024.
The Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) has long been at the forefront of the fight for civil rights, social justice, and economic equity. In 2025, under the leadership of National President/CEO DMark Liggins, Sr., the SCLC will embark on a groundbreaking initiative—the SCLC Poverty Tour. This tour is a bold and necessary step in our ongoing mission to spotlight the issues surrounding poverty and disenfranchisement in America.
The Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) Love and Light Drive is dedicated to honoring the enduring legacy of the SCLC through the lens of two pivotal dates in American history: the founding of the SCLC and the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Our vision is to create an opportunity for individuals and organizations to commemorate this rich history by contributing to the ongoing work of the SCLC. This drive serves as a platform for enshrining the impact and importance of the SCLC with love and resources, ensuring that the organization’s mission continues to thrive and inspire future generations.
Generation NOW is a dynamic program by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) aimed at educating and empowering future leaders by deeply connecting them with the civil rights movement’s history, strategies, and principles. By focusing on the foundational elements that have driven the fight for social justice, Generation NOW seeks to inspire a new generation to continue this vital work. The program comprises four key components, each designed to offer a comprehensive understanding of the movement’s legacy and its ongoing relevance today.
