V.O.T.E.S. (Voting Organizing Training Empowerment Sessions)
The Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) has a rich legacy rooted in the struggle for civil rights and the protection of voting rights for all Americans. As the driving force behind the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the SCLC has always placed the right to vote at the very heart of its mission. In keeping with this tradition, we are proud to introduce the SCLC V.O.T.E.S. program—Voting Organizing Training Empowerment Sessions—a nationwide initiative designed to educate, mobilize, and empower voters.
Empowering the Electorate
The SCLC V.O.T.E.S. program is an essential part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring that every eligible American is not only able to exercise their right to vote but is also informed and engaged in the electoral process. The power of the vote is one of the most fundamental rights we possess as citizens, and it is crucial that this right is both protected and exercised with full awareness of the issues at stake.
It is more important than ever to equip voters with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed decisions. SCLC V.O.T.E.S. aims to do just that by offering comprehensive training sessions that cover everything from the mechanics of voting to a deep dive into the key issues on the ballot. Through these sessions, we seek to empower individuals to not only cast their votes but to do so with confidence and purpose.
During the 2026 year, this program will also be integrated with our chapter network, enable them to tailor the unique issues of their area while underscoring certain topics that effect each of us. Especially the sessions on the history of the vote and identifying the difference between federal, state and local government.
Additionally, we will look to integrate more social media into the campaign through forums such as X(Formally Known as Twitter), Instagram and Facebook lives, etc…. We will be looking to for new and diverse ways to connect with all voters both in person and in the virtual space.
