In the aftermath of the 50th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday, the Selma-to-Montgomery March, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, SCLC President Dr. Charles Steele, Jr. will speak at the historic First Baptist Church Sunday Service on March 6, 2016 at 10am. The church is located at 709 Martin Luther King Street, Selma, AL 36701.
Invited by the church’s senior pastor Rev. Frederick L. Hardy, President Steele will deliver traditional remarks before the 51st commemoration and re-enactment of what has become known as Bloody Sunday, and the march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge.
A rally will be held outside the historic civil rights church before participants will proceed en masse to march across the bridge.
